Most commercial hand and body lotions contain an ingredient called paraben. I was told by a nurse that paraben has been linked to certain cancers in studies involving female mice. Look for “Paraben Free” lotions in stores like Whole Foods. I use “alba, very emollient body lotion.”
Always wear odd numbered strands of pearls. In other words, one, three, or five strands. They look just as fabulous with a little black dress as they do with trouser jeans and layered sweaters with some great boots. You can wear the grey pearls if you’ve got grey, white, or black hair, otherwise stick with ivory or white pearls. And don’t be afraid to layer you favorite chain necklaces with your pearls for an updated look.
On Thursday, Dec. 11, Robin Richman is having an anniversary party and you’re invited. Cocktails will be served from 5-9pm and all merchandise is 30% off. This beautiful shop is at 2108 North Damen, just north of Armitage. Go and pick out your last minute Christmansgifts to yourself; your husband will be releaved!
Make sure that your concealormatchesyour skin tone or is a half a shade lighter. To check if concealor is too dark, squeeze a tiny bit onto a white triangular make-up sponge. Hold the sponge up to your cheeck. If you have rosy skin tones, your concealor should have the words “rosy” or “ivory” or “light” in the color name. If you have golden or yellow skin tones, your concealor’s name should have the words “warm” or “beige”. Concealor should cover up dark circles, blemishes or uneven skin tones. Don’t make them darker; cover up and blend, blend, blend. Use loose or pressed powder to set.

This summer, find at least one new wardrobe item that’s bright green or yellow. If these colors don’t flatter your skin, wear them in accessories like shoes, bags, or belts.
Thank goodness, now you have a real expert tailor in town. (Not just another guy with a sewing machine at a cleaners.) He just opened, his name is Adrian Park and his shop is called DeLouice at 1755 W. North Ave. in Chicago. He can design and make men’s and women’s suites, (reasonably priced), and best of all, he can tailor your out-dated old stuff into up-dated fashionable wear. So go through your closets and see what needs a new hemline, neckline, waistline, or armholes. Bring them into Adrian, he’ll update them to fit you now, they’ll look great! http://www.louicechicago.com
On hot, humid days of summer, when your hair isn’t going to hold a curl for more than five minutes, put it up in a French twist. For a soft, sophisticated look that works for the office or anywhere, blow-dry your hair with a round brush on the ends and at the crown of the head for lift. Back comb the crown and sides slightly. Gather the hair as if to put it in a pony tail, but twist it starting at the center of the back of the head. Continue twisting and bring the hair upward. If it’s long, tuck the rest of the hair under for a tidy look, or let the ends cascade over the clip. Use a barrette or two-combed clip to keep in place. Release a few tendrils of hair in front of ears and back of neck for a soft, romantic look. Lovely!
